Heated seat retrofit A4 cabriolet !

Hi Mike,

sorry not replied sooner.

You do not have to take out the centre console but you do have to remove the climate control plugs. Some cables from the kufatec loom are inserted into the plugs - you need to disassemble the plug to get them in.

When I did my wiring I split the loom and ran the cables to each seat down the side of the car. The kufatec loom as it comes expects you to loop the second seat wiring over the transmission tunnel to the other side. To get the cables in you need to remove the A,B pillar lower trims and the rear seat bench to fold back the carpet. Do this before you re-fit the new seats. The plugs go into the holder under the seats from below.

I'll find the instructions and pm them to you.

Regards,

Dave

Well wired up the loom tonight and am finding that there is no movement in resistance when the switch is moved ? , and my back heated window switch will only light up for a second then go out ?.

Do I need vagcom to set up my car for heated switches/window to work ?.

Also as I am testing it without the heated seats fitted in the car will this make a difference ?

The heated seat switches do not directly supply the seat heaters - they connect to the ECU in the climate control panel and tell it what temperature setting to aim for. The heaters are switched on until they reach that temperature and then cycled to stay there.

Sounds like you need to check for fault codes with VAG-COM. That may be the proble with the heated rear window.

It's possible that the climate control may be detecting an open circuit seat heater and setting a fault code.

Hi,

I am putting in heated seats as well and had the same issue - is your car from 2003/early 2004 - if so Audi changed the way the rear heated window works. in the eariler model it was switched directly by the climate control unit. From Nov 2004 they use a relay - simple enough to install.

By putting in a relay you should get your rear window heating back again,

I am doing it tonight - will see if it works. But if you look up the wiring diagrams this is what it says.

Regards,

Watler.
