mkoneman
had the fish eye lense on for that shot so it looks a little futher back. i had a look at my pre facelift A8 today and this will only work on DBW cars, its a fixed metal pedal on the S8 and a plastic movable one on the '97 A8. to be honest there isn't much to write up about the brake pedal needed a little trim off the back of the rubber and then stuck in place to make sure it doesn't come off and the accelerator just slipped straight on
phunkstargti
You got the part numbers for the two pedal covers you used in the end?
notorious
OK, I've just accomplished this mod: Part numbers which worked with my RHD A8 D2 2002 (facelift): 1. Audi TT accelerator pedal: 8N1 721 647 B (about 11 UK pounds) 2. Phaeton brake pedal: 3D2 723 173 A (about 28 UK Pounds) Writeup: - You can't order Phaeton pedal cap at Audi dealership. You have to go to VW. Two separate orders for two pedals. - These caps are high quality parts. Thick aluminium and nice rubber. - Installation takes 30 minutes and is very easy. - Accelerator pedal comes off easily and Audi TT aluminium cap pops straight on. It maybe 5 mm longer, but this is not a problem. Plug and play installation. - It was difficult to me to remove existing brake pedal cap, but I took wire cutters, pried off the cap a bit from the pedal from corner and just cut (cutted?) it into two halves. - You have to modify Phaeton brake pedal before installation by removing central rubber part from back of brake pedal (see red rectangle on attached picture). A8 brake pedal don't have a hole for that. Just cut it with sharp knife. - The modified brake cap will sit just a bit loose. A good idea will be to glue it. I used 3M VHB (very high bond) sticky foam tape and it sits very firmly, but epoxy glue will work too. Enjoy new look of your footwell.
