shark_90
I'm about to move house and I am currently out of contract with a Sky HD box. Does anyone know what the script is with regards to moving house? Sky HD is £75 these days isn't it? Am I better off getting the Mrs to order Sky in the new house and get another HD box or am I better to move house with Sky, or just move house and change my address? There must be some offers on
Tipex
As your out of contract I'm not sure what would be available. When we moved house we did the 'recommend a friend offer'. I was the existing customer, and I recommended the mrs at the new address and we got 2 free Sky+ boxes! I think probably just a new contract with the £75 offer would be your best bet. shark_90
Been looking on the Sky site today and the £75 has gone.. it's now £99 and £60 installation! Not sure what to do.. I have an octo LNB that I can take from here and put onto the existing dish at the new place, I'd have to do some of the wiring myself which is a hassle but no more than half a day's job. Would have to keep the existing equipment though. Hmm.

AMG01
You get one for the referrer and one for the referee, in this case Tipex's other half was the referee so they got one each. Tadaa! I just got a free sky plus box from the refer a friend scheme and it's tops! I wouldn't pay £10 a month for HD subscription though, just a bit OTT for what you get IMO but I might just be tight. Besides, if you have a full HD screen (1080p) you wont get the full resolution benefit as the HD signal is broadcast in native HD which is much low res than full HD, again I may be guilty of being slightly baa humbug about the whole thing. Shark, Your going to have to pay for the installation at the new house whether you start again or not so if you still have the box it's prolley much of a muchness. G60jet
has the new house got a sky dish already? if so take the LNB off you old dish (at your old house) and move, then install the old sky box on the new houses system, if the LNB doesn't have enough outputs then simply change the LNB. My friends step dad is an installer, but they seem to thing that the present batch of HD boxes are 80% faulty??

Sky broadcasts HD content at 1080i. Which is the same resolution as full 1080p, but interlaced. You still end up with a 1920x1080 resolution picture. Also HD channels often have 5.1 sound when the SD channels dont And the bit rate for HD channels is approx 5 times that for SD. So the picture quality is much better (less lossy compression)

I can well believe it. Mine has been fine but my parent's are on their third in four weeks. They are really enjoying talking to Sky's ultra efficient call centre staff

So the picture quality is much better (less lossy compression) Sky Broadcasting either 720p or 1080i depending on the program makers choice. most of it is 720p unless its footie, and all HD channels are broadcast in Dolby Digital 5.1. (which you will need a Dolby Digital decoder for).
MattS3
Been looking on the Sky site today and the £75 has gone.. it's now £99 and £60 installation! I just wangled a £99 deal to upgrade to HD, but I got free installation, free HD subscription for 3 months and also £30 credit on my next bill. Just ring up and tell em you want to cancel, and moan about waiting on the phone for 10 mins before anyone actually answers it. Worked for me this afternoon so HD has only really cost me £39 including instalation
