geo_nr1
I have an Ibis white S3 now and wonder what products would give me the best look. I had a Deep Blue Pearl R32 before and used Megs Stage 1 and P21 Wax, which gave me a good shine. Would these same products give the white as good a shine. I appreciate that white might not give the wet look the blue had but I am still looking for the ultimate look on the paint.
steelwind101
Hello! Certantly that combo will look on white, Stage 1 is a good paintwork prep product. Using "clay" beforehand, esp. on white will make a world of difference every 4-6 months. It will reveal the paintwork and ensure as much whiteness as possible. Avoiding swirls will also make it look its best. There are quite alot of "good" products out there at the moment with very small differences in how they will look and how well they will perform. White is generally a black hole and the easiest way IMO to get it look good is to give it a "candy coated" look. Thats where the car is reflective and its look like visible barrier to protection is there. Sealants will probably work best for you in this case. Achiving depth is quite hard on white if you dont have a polisher to get things preped perfectly. Just for an example; Step 1 followed by DODO Supernatural will give a sealant style look which is the reflectivity you need. Step 1 followed by Optimum Optiseal is great on white, maintain with Optimum Spray Wax. Step 1 followed by Zaino Z5 Pro, if you put Z8 spray over the top then this will increase reflectivity and make the car look better. You can also thrown a product like Clearkote Red Machine Glaze between your Megs Step 1 and P21s. Geoff
Custom Detailers
Simple really employ a detailer i'm only down the road from you lol. Good shampoo Clay Dry Zaino Z2 apply(very thinly) let it haze and buff Spritz Z8 over the car and wipe over with a microfibre.
geo_nr1
Thanks guys, the only concern I have is that I am thinking about a protection film for the front of the car and ensure that the paint has been cleaned to its best before they put the film on and still gets a good shine and not be visible. steelwind101
Hello! With regard your plastic screen or "clear bra" you wont want to have ANY wax on the car before its applied. Once the clear bra is on any defects like swirls or bonded tar etc will be stuck below the bra. I would advise you seek the advise of a detailer to get things perfect! If you dont mind the swirls then the company who the clear bra should prep the paintwork ensure its ready clear bra. My advice is to make sure the company is good at what it does, clear bras are quite new in the UK and having lived stateside for a chunk of my life i have seen some good ones and some bad ones. steelwind101
If you look at the Jediknights post (a detailer on here) he has photos of cars he prepped for the clear bra!
Arch
Thought i'd revive an old thread instead of starting another, as my question relates to white paint as well. I recently had my car detailed ("It's all in the detail" thread on page1) and now I need to start looking after it myself. My 'kit' at the moment extends to a Megs wash miss and some NXT shampoo, that's about it! What can you guys recommend with regards to post wash protection? It's got a fantastic, swirl free glassy finish at the moment and I'd like to try and keep it that way. Cleaning time is strictly limited so anything that saves time and energy but works well would be good. Waxes, sealants, glazes. I don't know what to choose and which order to apply it in. Any help and advice very much appreciated.

Any help and advice very much appreciated. Hi Arch I did see your post of the car a few weeks ago i think? Someones white honda but i was viewing from my PDA as i was out the country. It looked good and white is an intreasting colour! As for the NXT wash, thats a good start and do you have the two buckets and grit guards to go with it? If not they and a product called a Quick Detailer are a good start. For a quick detailer i would suggest ClearKote Quickshine, having a had a white car in the states and a white pick up truck here it really is good at bring up the gloss after washing. If you feel that the dirt is sticking to the car TOO much then try Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer as it has some good sheeting abilities. As for those protection products, you can either go for Nuba based wax or a sealant. I have just switched back to Nuba wax after the winter and i forget how beading isnt as good as sheeting and now i have water spots! Here are my two choices from the millions for your whtie car: A product called RED MOOSE MACHINE GLAZE (fine for hand application). Topped off with DoDo Juice Super Natural. Its will give you a wet glossy look. My second choice would: Wolfgang Paintwork Prep Topped off with Wolfgang Sealant 3.0. Either will look good, the Wolfgang will last longer and potentially stay cleaner for longer. Both products are super easy to use, pick up some quality microfibres and applicators and it should be easy to achieve and maintain the shine. Have you clayed the car before? Thats an essential for white paintwork! You says its in top quality swirl free condition so i wont recommend a decontaination kit which works wonders on white but if you do need one the FK1 decon kit is excellent. If you need more pointers etc. let me know. Geoff
Arch
Thanks for the reply Geoff. I shall get a shopping basket together of new kit I think as I need cloths and something decent to dry with, not my old chamois I'm guessing!! I have tried clay before but only managed to get time to either do the front of the car or the back, never the whole car. I have some Megs Quick Detailer which I bought with the clay a while back. So, after washing is this just a spray on and wipe off for a quick job or as a step before applying the protection products such as the glaze and wax? Thanks. steelwind101
Hi! You would want to use a quick detailer everytime you dry the car it does a few things: -Adds shine as you dry. -Any dust, pollen, fall out that hits the car after you have rinsed gets lifted away by the QD which allows for safer drying. - Lubricates the drying towel itself to reduce micromarring. Personally, if you have the red bottled QD then save that for the clay. Its a QD that is designed to lubricate the surface and to act as a quick clean up product. Its acutal gloss abilities are low. Do get rid of the chamois! Using the QD everytime you wash will keep your car looking good and keep your wax or sealant alive for longer. You spray it on the car once you have rinsed, but before you dry. There is a discount on the following site for TSN users, im not sure what it is as i have never used it! I presume, Alex still offers this to TSN? Here is an idea of some kit that might be of help to you: Drying towel: - Chemical Guys - Miracle Dryer Ultra Absorbent Towel 25" x 36" Elite Car Care Paintwork Prep: Wolfgang Pre-Wax Polish Enhancer 16oz Elite Car Care Sealant: Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant V3.0 16oz Elite Car Care Quick detailer for shine (This site has this at a good price and its a fantastic product) Pinnacle Crystal Mist Detail Spray 16oz Elite Car Care For applying the sealant: - Meguiars High Tech Applicator Pads Elite Car Care For applying the precleaner (these have more cleaning action) - Sonus Der Wunder Applicator, Pkg/2 Elite Car Care Lots of removal power: - Sonus Der Wunder Polishing Towel, Pkg/2 Elite Car Care Lots of buffing power! - Sonus Der Wunder Buffing Towel, Pkg/2 Elite Car Care Thats an idea of the kinda kit you need to get you going.
