Gareth
Well as much as I disliek Wayside they wouldnt budge on price on one, but they did say give it a couple of months and things will change.A good time for deals will be towards the end of their financial periods when they are trying to get the volume bonuses and target met. Sellign cars at a huge discount will mean nothing in order to achieve figures. Its unlikely I'll change because it will mean I pay the same price for a new Q5 as for our current car and other than being slightly smaller we wont gain anything. If you're a buyer for a Q5 now there are deals to be done.............
Gareth
My wife and I managed to pop down to our local Audi dealer at the weekend to view the Q5. Initially, the Q5 didn’t look much smaller than the Q7, but it clearly is. My wife is still concerned about being seen driving a ‘Chelsea Tractor’, but certainly warmed to the car and I think that it would be perfect for our needs if / when a family comes along. The dealer was extremely helpful and was very keen to offer us a 24 hour test drive to see whether we thought the car would meet our needs – This didn’t surprise me, as I suspected that their sales volumes would be significantly down and hence they’d be struggling to sell cars, however he implied that they had 24 customers with orders for Q5’s and the waiting list was now 6 months plus. Clearly this may have been a bluff to justify not wanting to offer any discounts – I didn’t bother discussing pricing, as we openly told him that we wouldn’t be looking to commit until after the year end once bonuses (presumably zero!) had been confirmed, and in any case we would probably get Gareth to get the best deal for us. Just got to get my head around the fact that a well stocked Q5 costs circa £40k………. Sidicks I need a new car at the moment and on paper the Q5 fits the required bill nicely. However as you found sidicks the car with any kind of decent/required spec is up to £40k-pre discount-and that is just too much for a 4 cylinder SUV. However the volumes will not be huge and as a result there won't be a lot around as used cars-except ex demo's-come early '09 so a new car-with a deal-might be the way to go. The 3.0tdi is a great engine but plainly over kill for the Q5 so the 2.0Tdi or 2.0T would be my choice.

Interesting!.. would you say that the 3.0tdi is too much for the car.. i reckon you could be right!.. hadn't thought of it like that.
