VWGolf21 Posted December 1, 2008 Report Share Posted December 1, 2008 VW Golf 1.4S, 51 plate. The battery randomly goes flat. Had it tested, fine apparently. It works fine for around 6-8 weeks, then it's just flat when I come to it, I get someone to jump the car, and it's fine for another 6 ish weeks. I drive 5 out of 7 days, around 40 miles a day, it normally goes flat after I've only driven it short distances the day before. I also have a problem that's developed recently (last weekish) where the door open warning light won't go off when all the doors and the boot are (more than) firmly shut. I think that the two problems are independent. Could the battery thing be my alternator going? I thought that if it was the alternator, then it wouldn't be fine for so long before going flat overnight? If anyone could shed any light on either of these problems I'd appreciate it.
