steelwind101
Hi Guys, It was quite warm yesterday (saturday) about 7 degs. so i went to work cleaning the Lancer for the first time in a couple weeks, it had only done about 200 miles. I have been desperate to get some pics of the Auris SR alas its either been dirty or too dark! Today it was a 2 above freezing and Auris had done near a 1K in the last 2 weeks. There was frost on the houses when i started this afternoon and finished at dew point. Nothing to special just a few pics to liven up the forum. The Auris has Klasses AIO topped with 2x Wolfgang Sealant 3.0 applied in the first week of October, the wheels have got EGP on. The paint on this car is called Venitian Silver which is a blue-silver depending on what way the light catches the car. Windows are all factory tinted just incase you thought i had pimped it! The Lancer has RMG topped with 2x Wolfgang Sealant 3.0 also applied in the first week of October. I have included pictures of the glass sealant from Carplan (Nanomeric) Also on about its 10th week! Auris: Lancer: Wolfgang Beading: Glass protection upclose: Got to love that new Wolfgang Sealant, it looks good and is seeming to last very well! Lancer tyres have my favorite Sonus Tire and Trim, blackens the tyres so they look great even through all poor weather and when its fresh it has a decent low gloss. steelwind101
Oh YEAH! Dont ever buy those wheels for the Auris, they are A PAIN IN THE ASS! If you have these wheels or similar and want a major help getting them sorted then buy these: Wolfgang Finger Pockets I use one one to clean between the spokes with and i used another to apply EGP by spraying each side of the "foam pocket" with EGP and then sliding it around the spokes. UQD is used to keep them as clean as possible between washes.
JonC
Nice work, Geoff Weather here's been crap too, but up until last weekend, when it took a turn for the worse, I've managed to clean my GTI every weekend - some weekends more detailed than others as I'm reliant on the weather; I don't have the luxury of a garage at present. The snowy scene is near to Loch Rannoch where we went for the day and the other two are when I had a chance to wash, cleanse, nourish and protect her:

fresco1
Yep, as soon as I saw the sun come up on Saturday AM, I was also out and detailing my GTI ... ! Managed to give it a nice detail, and finished off with some Megs Speed Detailing before returing it to the garage (hence no photos!). Was also pretty alarmed at the number of stone chips on the bonnet, which I suspect was caused by getting stuck behind a road gritter the other week ... ? Managed to tidy up the worst ones, but may have to wait for better / warmer weather before tackling the bonnet and restoring to it's former glory .... Presume a few other TSN'ers freshened up their cars this weekend?!
steelwind101
Cheers Jon, nice one on your GTI! You had a much nicer location for the photo shoot! Such a good choice of colour too. Are those the same wheels Tarmac Terrorist has, if so i hope you keep them protected this weather! What are you using on the paintwork? Fresco, yep those gritter lorries can really throw those little hard stones of salt or whatever it is these days out. I notice the price of those paintsheilds has really dropped, i might consider one now. Saturday was definitely the better day for the clean up! Yep, they're Monza II 18's and TT has the same on his GTI. I give them a few coats of AG super resin every few weeks. I'm a novice when it comes to detailing and still learning, so at present am using AG products (I bought about £200 of AG products initially!) before I venture into other products/types. Once they're used up, I'm itending to take the advice I've sought from here and take it a step further.
Tarmac_Terrorist
Great pics chaps :D Geoff - I like those finger pocket thingies - ideal for wheels. I had a day off work today so went out and cleaned the BM. It's a company car but I still treat it well & wash weekly. No pics unfortunately but I gave it a thorough wash and QD after drying. Water is still beading very well as it should.....applied 2 coats of EGP ( 3 in places) and 3 coats of Colli 845 over a period of about 6 weeks in Oct / Nov. Not had to clean the GTI for 3 weeks as it's not gone out of the garage since the last wash. It's sooo much easier only having 1 car to clean a week! I invested in an EZ wheel brush a couple of weeks back but it's still in the packaging. Geoff, I notice you had a similar / same brush in the bowl Phil

Good to see everyone is out there cleaning up while the weather is good. I dont think you will have much problem with this winter and your choice of protection TT! I was wanting to try the new NXT 2.0 which meant to contain the same hydrophobic polymers that are in UQD. Has anyone got it? Geoff PS. My sisters Picanto is due home in a week or so, i covered with EGP in August, it hasnt been cleaned since! It will be intreasting to see how it holds up to no washing....! Tarmac_Terrorist
I like EGP and find it fairly durable. I have had up to 6 months out of it in terms of durability in Summer months but only 3 -4 months at best in winter on a daily driver. (2 coats over SRP) Didn't know about NXT 2.
