kmistry
Hi, My car has recently been fixed after being in an accident. Now when i lock the car, the 4 indicators lights do not flash and the red LED on the doors do not flash. The alarm is not being activated. When i unlock the car the 4 indicator lights flash and the doors unlock as per normal. The garage will not admit fault and say i need to take it to Audi garage and my insurance will not pay up unless Audi say it was related to the accident!! So theres a chance i will be £118 out of pocket just for a diagnostics. Is there anything i should suggest to the garage, or anything i can do myself to diagnose/rectify this. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
davidhodgkinson
Do you have any "door open" signals on the DIS? If so, the car will think a door is still open & will not set the alarm. These are usually caused by a small fault in the lock - there is an electronic switch in the locks (these go faulty)
PetrolDave
If you post where you live (town only, no details) someone on here with VAG-COM may offer to do a diagnostics check for a few beers or WHY?
kmistry
I live in Streatham. The alarm does not activate even when locking doors manually. Just took car to a local garage who has diagnostics. The following error appears: 01134 Alarm Horn - H12 No communication. Does this mean the horn is defective? Would/could this occur in an accident when i have been hit from behind and shunted into the car in front? Ive had front and rear bumpers replaced, bonnet and boot have been re sprayed and knocked out and a new radiator. (surprised they didnt write her off). The car alarm was working perfect before the garage started working on it. Does anybody know how much it may cost to have the alarm horn replaced? Thanks again! davidhodgkinson
The alarm horn is in the rear corner of the boot, below the near side (uk) brake light. If you were hit from behind, maybe the alarm unit was also damaged.
kmistry
Thanks, i have mentioned this to the mechanic but he says that the horn under the 'skuttle panel'? Also when i called audi for a price on a alarm horn one said £25 and the other dealer said only can get alarm siren with a control unit for £85. . . . I dont know which to trust. davidhodgkinson
It could be the battery on the alarm gone? Did the alarm make any random double beeps? Take a look at The Audi TT Forum ; View topic - MK1 Alarm Siren fix
PetrolDave
Thanks, i have mentioned this to the mechanic but he says that the horn under the 'skuttle panel'? The normal horn is there, but the alarm horn is separate and is at the rear as already said. Sounds like the mechanic doesn't know enough about Audis to be useful...
