wyliss
I'm taking Geoffs advice (again, thanks Geoff) and going for some Optimum Spray Wax as a booster for my LSP (Collinite). Whilst I'm placing the order I just wondered if I should get anything else.............Any recommendations guys ?

Dave
Cheers Dave. Yeah got all that stuff. What I'm thinking down the line of is lotions and potions etc ?You been busy on the Q7 ? For sure.. it's a blooming big car :D I'm thinking of leaving the zymol and maybe trying some thing like a polymer/sealant type product. I had a small bit of paint repaired by chips away, but he left some swirl marks on the door which I'm not chuffed about, so I need to look at that first. I think i'll try scratch-x first. steelwind101
Nice one Dibbs! I think the OCW will look great and really easy to apply as well! I hope the weather breaks soon enough so i can get out and detail the car. I wonder, given the weather the and the economy and the large amount of new products launched last year if there will be many new things out? They have to give us some time to use them all! Geoff PS. Cant think of anything else right now!
ahaydock
How about some FK1000P or Zaino Z8? Not sure if they sell it or not though...
wyliss
How about some FK1000P or Zaino Z8? Not sure if they sell it or not though... I've heard a tadge about these what exactly are they?. A guy over on DW raves on about Z8 !
Tarmac_Terrorist
Z8 is a durable Quick Detailer essentially - at least that's my take on it! I bought some a couple of months ago but have yet to beak the seal (waiting for better weather). I've been reading a bit about the FK1000P. I 'think' it's a paint sealant from what i've read but perhaps others can confirm / elaborate. I read that it's great to seal alloys with too- very durable apparently. It's on my wish list to try later in the year. Go on - you know you want to add something else to the order - even if only to better justify the postage
steelwind101
Hi! Z8 isnt really a quick detailer, Zaino sell a quick detailer called Z6. Z8 is a spray sealant, that has to applied to dry, clean car. It doesnt draw dirt away from the surface on application and it isnt a drying aid. It can be slightly tempremental as well depending on the weather! Just to quote from Zaino "The vehicle should be relatively clean – Z-8 won't replace a car wash or even a typical quick detail spray. If your vehicle is dirty, wash it before using Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal." "Working with a cool and dry surface". There is a product called Duragloss Aqua Wax which is almost identical as far as looks go and can be applied wet in place of your regular QD when drying. Z8 would go post drying the car. Tarmac_Terrorist
Thanks for clarifying that Geoff. What I don't understand is how a sealent (Z8 in this case) bonds to a surface coated with wax. I thought it was only vice versa?
steelwind101
Hi TT The newer sealants are clever are are able to bond. I think the create a blanket of bonds with themself ie.the next polymer along to increas strength when they cannot bond as well or as often to the surface. Optimum do a product, virtually the same as Zanio Clear Seal (ZCS) same bottle etc. This you can apply over a nuba wax, say one that wont last very long and then the sealant protects the nuba. There are few other products that are polymer sealants that you can use over waxes: Optimum Car Wax DG Aqua Wax Meguiars Ulimate QD Its the just older style stuff that wont work. Tarmac_Terrorist
Thanks for clarifying this Geoff - it can become confusing!
wyliss
Well the Optimum arrived last week and I was able to use it on Saturday. A really nice product to use, just spray on and wipe into the paintwork, no buffing required. The shine and appearance of the car's paintwork was stunning. I parked the car up today to nip into the shop and on the way back I thought that car's paintwork is cracking until I realized it was mine !. So all in all a cracking product that gives an excellent appearance coupled with a top up for your LSP. p.s. Thanks Geoff for the recommendation !!
