Drillslinger
As I don't know too much about these, what do y'all think of this one?
Drillslinger
This LG doesn't look too bad either, and it's advertised here for US$154 which sounds like a good price, doesn't it?

Chris_B
[ QUOTE ] As I don't know too much about these, what do y'all think of this one? [/ QUOTE ] I've got the external (firewire & USB2) version of that drive, and it's great. It hasn't burnt a single coaster yet, CD or DVD. I've written DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD+RW and my Philips player plays all of them no problem. The 8Mb buffer is very nice to have, no worries about underrun at all, and as I've got it hooked up via firewire, I don't need to worry about bus contention with the source, be that an IDE DVD-Rom drive or from hard disk. Expensive, but very, very good IMHO.
Drillslinger
But the Sony is only $154, is that still expensive? Thx for the comments guys, and I'll take a gander at the Plextors

[/ QUOTE ] Sounds good to me - my external was £230 if I remember rightly, but then externals always are more expensive. If you've got a spare IDE channel you can dedicate to it, I'm sure the internal version will be fine.
Drillslinger
Cool, I spotted both the Sony and the LG at newegg for the same price, but wasn't sure how they compared Any comments on the newer TDK's?
