msi-chuck
Folks, have any of the R32 DSG users driven a bmw E46 with smg 2. If so how did you rate it?
terrymcg
Are you after an M3 mate, as I am after an R32. Mine isnt an SMG though. Although I can say having had both SMG is no way near as smooth as DSG. If you like using the auto function of DSG, forget it with SMG the car lurches like mad you will hate it! I felt the SMG was a gimmick that got very annoying after a while. DSG is very useable! Not saying SMG is total crap, it is nice for a nce spirited blast out, and very very brutal is S6 mode! PEROSI
Have driven a couple of the M3 SMG's and on both counts I was really disappointed with the gearbox. Awesome cars and I considered owning one but I felt I would slip into full auto very quickly as the paddle shift drive was quite jolty. DSG in different ball park. If you want an M3 my advice would be to buy the manual.
