Nighthawk Posted April 4, 2009 Report Share Posted April 4, 2009 Hi All, I have a 2000 Passat sport TDI,a week ago the electronic key fob started playing up and would only open the doors on the vehicle after several attempts.Thinking it was the batteries I replaced them but this time the fob was completely dead and it would not work at all. I then went to a vehicle lock shop where the fob was recoded ( apparantley the batteries have to be replaced within a minute or the code is lost) .The fob then worked okay for a few days but today when I attempted to unlock the car with the fob it would not work and is completely dead although I can see the alarm led light flashing on the drivers door. I have never owned door keys for the vehicle and the only key on the fob is for the ignition which does not fit the doors.In short I cannot gain access to the car!!! > I made enquiries with a local VW dealer and was quoted £85 for a new coded fob.
