Misfire fault code-explanation

Just had MIL triggered on my 2003 S4 and was wondering if anyone could shed any light on it.

I've plugged in my VAG-COM (release 409.1) and the fault is shown as 16684-P0300-001 Random/Multiple cylinder misfire detected.

Is VAGCOM unable to determine multiple misfires on various cylinders? or is there a way to identify the coil in question? Does the 001 prefix at the end of the code indentify the cylinder?

I've changed the one on cylinder 5 recently too but this fault was shown as only that cylinder.

I know that VW/Audi and even Bentley have common faults with coil on plug units.

Any help would be gratefully received.
