dilema.....

Due to go on holiday next week and the Kia Sedona Diesel is throwing out black smoke from the exhaust. The turbo is ok and i have a gut feeling that its the EGR valve.

Not enough time to have it replaced and we need the sedona....

Any help would be great.

Thanks

if its sticking open removing the vacuum hose wont completely stop it, but it might be enough to get you by. side effects of doing away with egr is better mpg, more power, a cleaner intake and better reliability. downsides are worse NOx emissions, and some cars sense the egr is blocked by looking for a drop in airflow with the valve open and might put on the check engine light.

The car does drive much better with the vacum hose disconnected and thankfully no Check light on. It will only be driven approx 300 miles. It will take 10 days for the new one to arrive so i am not able to wait for it.

Fingers crossed the cars ok for the holiday.

Thanks all for your advise.
