AvantSE Posted April 28, 2009 Report Share Posted April 28, 2009 A colleague of mine got wind of my car being remapped, and has now decided he wants his *cough* Tiguan doing too. It is the 2.0 140bhp common rail diesel engine. However, unlike my car, his warranty is intact as the car is less than a year old and with only 20K on the clock. Needless to say, he wants a map that won't affect his warranty. Does anyone know of any remaps that are supplied by VW dealers, or through VW dealers, which would not affect the warranty? I am aware that some Audi and Skoda dealers are able to offer this. He is based in North Lincolnshire and would need somewhere nearby. Cheers. shark_90 Posted April 28, 2009 Report Share Posted April 28, 2009 The only time you will ever find that is if the dealer offered it themselves or were tuning savvy.. most dealers you will get a straight "feck off" I'm afraid. For example Rainworth Skoda (where my car is from) are Revo dealers - clearly they are OK with remaps. I am aware that some Audi and Skoda dealers are able to offer this. My pet subject There are no Audi dealers that will remap a car without it affecting the warranty. The warranty allows you to take your car to any dealer and hence just because one dealer will turn a blind eye doesn't mean all will and hence the warranty is affected. Add to this that any dealer turning a blind eye is effectively ripping off the manufacturer (could be seen as fraud) then it all gets a bit iffy. You will find dealers that buy warranties in to cover their risk but that's not the same as not affecting your warranty. Where ever you end up going, make sure you get it in writing.
