jamieg
Hi guys - I've purchased a used A4 two weeks ago and the car has loads of spots / marks all over the window trims, I've tried to get Derby Audi the garage I purchased from to resolve these issues however they won't have any of it, I've also tried to get them through warranty at Huddersfield Audi and they've advised it's not a warranty job as this marking is due to chemicals. "load of crap, looks like rain damage to me" Is there any way of getting rid of these marks, I've tried t-cut to no avail, I'm not sure if these trims are metal or plastic, it's a 57 plate S Line - not sure if it helps. Would really appreciate some help / thoughts.
Tarmac_Terrorist
I seem to remember someone else also having this same issue and Audi replaced them under warranty quite a long time ago. I 'think' they are plastic if I recall correctly. Might be worth having a dig using the search facility to see if you can locate it.
jamieg
Cheers for the reply TT, I've had a good look before I posted up but I shall have a further look tonight to see if I can find this document.
steelwind101
Hi! Just to say what TT has said, return it to deal. However! Dont mention the T-Cut part just incase! If you wanted to sort out a and scratches check out the Meguiars line of the new ScratchX 2.0 and SwirlX as they are suppose to be really good and much better then T Cut. mb
Have a look/post in the A4 section too as I think it was the silver trim on cab windscreens they accepted as warranty failures - blamed the screenwash initially ?
jamieg
Spoken to Derby Audi tonight and they may be replacing the front door trims - they are vrey bad, the rears are acceptable, They have said they will have a look and try to get them all done but I guess a slight compromise will help. jamieg
Cheers for your help on this guys, an update. After many conversations and emails back and forth to Derby Audi they agreed to try and push these trims via warranty, this has now happened they collected the car and sorted all the issues I had on the car the trims being one of them, they have replaced all the trims around the doors, they have f**ked up the job badly the amount of cosmetic damage that has been left is unreal, scuff marks on a wing mirror, a lot of scratching on the roof strut that runs along the car above the doors, looks like they wrenched off the old trims and rammed the new ones on without regard to the paintwork, they have also knacked up the windscreen rubber on the drivers side, looks like they used it for leverage, plus it loose like they put thier tools on the roof of the car gouging it, scratching etc... let along the new paint chip on the door and wing mirror. Looks like the service department completed the work rather than a body shop technician. Why oh why oh why...........
mb
How frustrting - when I read this I thought what a result ! Still they have agreed they are warranty items now so take it back & get them to fix what they did wrong - eventually they will learn ! Good luck
steelwind101
Good to hear there sorted, sorry to hear about the damage they have caused. I would get the car back there as soon as you can! spikeyboy
glad you sorted out the trim - i have slight marking on mine (03 plate) so wont eb done on warranty - doesnt matter what i have used on the trim it wont come out - no where near as bad as your was though. Sorry to hear about the damage they have caused - hope you have no issues getting them to fix the damage. Just a word of caustion for yourself and others - when you ever take your car to a dealers get them to go over the car with you making note of any damage, and the same again when you pick it up - i learnt this the hard way when audi tonbridge damaged my car but i didnt notice for a week or so - by which time they deined everything. JonC
the amount of cosmetic damage that has been left is unreal, scuff marks on a wing mirror, a lot of scratching on the roof strut that runs along the car above the doors, looks like they wrenched off the old trims and rammed the new ones on without regard to the paintwork, they have also knacked up the windscreen rubber on the drivers side, looks like they used it for leverage, plus it loose like they put thier tools on the roof of the car gouging it, scratching etc... let along the new paint chip on the door and wing mirror That is an obscene amount of damage for a "professional" company to leave on someone else's property. I wouldn't stand for that in a month of Sundays. Have them repair all damage at their own cost. Thing is, proving it was them. Really hope you get that sorted out as that sounds like sleepless night stuff
jamieg
Not sure if you're interested but the pics are here Index of /jam1eg Some are not so clear but you can still see the issues. Had a call from Derby Audi today and they have asked me to get quotes rather than drive the 200 mile round trip, I think they are in for a shock when they see the quote as other than these pics the sales person has not seen the damage first hand. now the waiting game.... alFR
Lordy, it's hard to see how the could have made a bigger mess if they tried. What are the interior splashes?
steelwind101
That is very bad. That is just a shameful way to act towards someone car. The mechanic must have been having bad or something, it looks like he just attacked it. Shocking, i hope you get this resolved.

I've no idea mate at all, however it does come off but I'm unwilling to clean it just now as I would rather them see the excellent quality job they have done at it's best.
