Chick
After listening to the droning of "effin expensive skip u got there with the roof down" (which actually sounded like blah blah blah blah blah blah) from Mr AC, decided to take a (sort of) leaf out of J_C's book and took 4 hours to hoover, clean interior, clean alloys (1/2 hr each boot) wash car twice, dry and finally wax (which took fookin ages) on Saturday. Luckily the sun was shining and the music was loud so 4 hours was just about right ...... and the car was spotless. Last night, popped out for dinner in the rain - usually taking me back to square one, water marks and grime kicked up from the road all over the car ........ have just been to the garage (not to look at my car I promise) and er my car is still pretty much spotless, the bonnet is clean as a whistle, alloys have a smattering of road residue (can I wax these too??). If it takes just a bit more effort but overall the car stays cleaner between its weekly washes I might even stop using the man at sainsburys () and do it all myself
JonC
Nice one AC See, caring for you car isn't that bad after all, huh? Bet you found it highly rewarding and keeping it thoroughly cleaned on a weekly basis, with a strict wash routine, will pay dividends, and it will be easier to keep that way. You can wax your alloys. There are many different products to use, but two which are easily accessible. After wash stage, "clean" the alloy surface with Autoglym Super Resin Polish, then apply 2 or 3 coats of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection with a couple of hours in between each application to allow the product to really dry and work. Got any piccies of your hard work?

Chick
ooooh, after a rummage in the garage I found all that Autoglym stuff you have suggested, hubbie is obviously a secret anorak too sorry no pictures, not sure it is quite up to your standard, and after seeing your pictures on the other thread not sure I ever will be! Er Steve, your car must have three times the paint surface to mine (as I have to include your roof) so nooo chance, ha ha!
