Window tinting- good idea?

My new '06 A6 does not have the factory standard tint. I'm considering having the windows tinted, however I'd like to find out what % tit would be best. I'm after something similar the the standard Audi tint, anybody know what % this is? - I'm not looking for anything crazy here. Also having been quoted £200 from Diamond tint, is that about right for an Avant?

Tints is the way foward for follwoign reasons:

1. Cooler

2. Security

3. Privacy :)

4. Looks

Depending on how many windows you are tinting £200 sounds a good deal, if that is just the rear windows.

I would say go for Dark Smoked or limo dark if you want really dark tints, i think you can only tint front windows about 60% for it to be road legal but don't hold me to it.

Tints i would recommend.

not sure about factory tints but do think that factory tints are not dark enough so a rough guess would be you get 60% tints on factory fitted but if you go aftermarket tints then you could quite easily get 80% tints. It might be worth ringing Audi direct and asking them if they know what percentage are factory tints?

Sorry could not be of any further help!

You can go for a 30% tint without any problems.

This is my old S4, which was 30% on the front windows and 70% on the rears, if that gives you an idea. Passengers hanging on in the front and the back is not compulsory - it's just the Nürburgring... :P

Most front windows are tinted to the legal limit, look for an AS2 I think it is on the manufacturers mark on the windows.

I've just had mine done with (I think) 70% blocking and although it looked a bit alien at first and I was a bit worried about the visibililty at night, it's perfectly OK and just right IMO.

I paid £140 by Tintz UK in Lincoln.
