Hi just wont to tell all you guys that you dont wont to make the singel stage to dual stage retrofit. Just had a crash whit my Audi A3 -2004. And 5months ago I made a big misstake and retrofited the MFSW whit dual stage airbag onto the singel stage.

Some nights ago I made a crash whit the car strait into a tree and the airbag did NOT GO OFF, every other airbag like side airbag and passenger airbag blows off but not the dual stage airbag. All of us that was in the car did survive whit just some small injurys but that was all about luck. So dont challenge the fate live whitout MFSW.

Here is some pic. of the crasht car.

Good to see you made it out okay,

First post, so i'll make it quick?

- Was the airbag light on prior to the collision? If so then this would disable the airbag if the controller had a fault in the memory which refered to N95. ( primary stage I driver airbag igniter).

- Was the airbag fitted with the correct wiring loom, 8J0 971 589a, and did you modifiy any wiring, ( i.e alot of people talk about bridging the high impact and low impact airbags together on the same two wires? If so then this would also cause the airbag not to fire). DO NOT BRIDGE THE WIRING TOGETHER AS THIS WILL CERTAINLY CAUSE A MALFUNCTION.

I am assuming the correct slip ring was used 1k0 953 653 D. and control unit 8P0 953 549 F.

Much appreciated.

Gareth

I've lost count of the number of people I've tried (in vain) to dissuade from doing a dual stage airbag MFSW retrofit to a car with a single stage airbag system.

I spent a couple of years crashing cars into 20 tonne blocks of concrete to validate airbag systems - and I know that this is a retrofit that could end in tears. Katallozi was lucky that nobody was seriously injured.

How do you wire them up Gareth? I always wondered how you got around this "issue" when fitting them for customers, it's why I've never done one for anyone.
