blodnob
Hello all. Fairly new around here and need a little advice. i have a 3.2 A3 DSG (8P) S Line and before i get it chiped id like to know if it's worth putting a miltek system on it ? Not really botherd about getting it just for the noise it makes. relly only interested in what performance increase , if any, £500+ will give. Or would the money be best set towards a set of cams. Any clues as to what each of these options will add up to in HP? I really need to get it over the 300 mark if possible or as near to it as i can as Spoons (me mate) has just got a 335 "Diesel" BMW and it pissed all over my pride n joy. Only for another two years or so untill i get my S5 tho. Later all n thanks in advance, Sean.
burble
Yes, it's definitely worth it. The Milltek gives it a deeper more agressive sound but still keeping the metallic rasp that the stock exhaust has. That said, if you're not bothered about the sound and only interested in performance then you'll be a bit dissapointed. Having a Milltek gives you the potential for more power but on it's own won't give any. To hit 300bhp you'll need to fork out a lot of cash. Even with cams, sports cats, ported and polished head, CAI and so on you'll most likely still not make it. Tuning an NA engine is very expensive for the gains you go. Cupramax
The only way you'll get over 300hp out of the 3.2 is by supercharging it or doing an HPA turbo conversion, neither are cheap...
DukeDesmo
According to AMD Tuning Parts for Audi A3 3.2 V6 quattro 3 door (2003 -) from AmD Technik a remap will give you a 15hp increase and a remap with Miltek exhaust 25hp. I've thought about it but it is an expensive upgrade. If my exhaust needed replacing then I'd go that way though.
blodnob
Desmo. 25 is in the right direction at least. Visited a place today to see there facilitys and am getting a bespoke one made leaving on the origonal manifolds but with the 2 into 1 part + the rest of the system. Same dim's as the miltek. Only 2/3rds of the price. Any ideas regarding cams ?
cruiser647
You'll also need to be going some to beat a 335D BMW. They are real movers - and if he chips it, you'll have less than 0 chance!
DukeDesmo
Any ideas regarding cams ? Well AMD claim 40hp for the remap + exhaust + their cams, if you can get a good gasflow on the head & intakes and a raised compression ratio there should be more available (I got over 15hp from a good 'flowjob' on my bike) I would think 300hp should be do-able but it wouldn't be cheap. Alternatively turbo it, HPA HPA Motorsports Inc. claim 550hp from an R32 (same engine) but it'd be cheaper to buy a faster car...

CHip +Milltek +HPA GENII haldex +HPA DSG Flash + HPA CVP with DP and hi flow cat gets you very close to 300 but not 300. However, the car will perform very beasty! blodnob
Whats a "HPA DSG flash", and "HPA CVP with DP" ? Sounds a bit rude
Mook
HPA is a North American tuning company with no representation in the UK, so I'd look elsewhere if I were you. The Gen2 Haldex is an uprated controller for diverting torque to the rear diff, so will make zero difference to the amount of power your engine puts out. It changes the corner handling though. You can get over 300bhp out of the 3.2 VR6 engine (it's the same engine as fitted in the R32) by fitting Schrick cams, full Milltek including their hi-flow sports cats and a decent remap. A few of us on here used to have this mod on our Mk4 R32s and they all dyno'd between 304 and 314bhp, but you're talking a big chunk of money to get that lot done. If you want someone to do the work for you and you've got £2.5K+ to spend, talk to Ed at APS in Brackley HTH
