TrundleFly
I'm starting to develop severe OCD about tyre pressures and finding it frustrating that each thing I use (digital inflator/footpump/digital one at petrol station) all give massively different readings. I then compare this to the reading of tyre pressures that the car is giving me and again totally different. I compared to one at a forecourt yesterday and there was a huge difference. Forecourt said both rears were 32 and the car thought one was 39 and one was 37. Does anyone know how accurate the reading is from the car itself? mikael
I have TPMS in my A8, and I think it is fairly accurate. However, it is important to bear in mind that the pressure will increase when the car is driven, especially at higher speeds. Heat in the tyres will heat and increase the pressure of the air inside the tyre. It is therefore only fair to compare the pressure dispalyed in the car with a pressure gauge in short period of time, or do it when the car has been parked for a number of hours.
