ssdreyatt Posted November 2, 2009 Report Share Posted November 2, 2009 hi guys,this is my first time on this sight and MAN IS THERE SOME AWESOME STUFF!anyway i own a mk2 golf and just got my hands on a really beatup audi 5ooocs.lots of interior bits missing,but my interest is the 2000cc engine.can i fit the engine to my golfs existing g/box and what mods will i have to go through?has anyone done something similar?all help and advice will highly be appreciated.:D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Mook Posted November 3, 2009 Report Share Posted November 3, 2009 Welcome to Tyresmoke No, the engine won't fit. The 5000 has a longitudinal engine (front to back) - your Mk2 has a transverse engine. Best conversions to consider for the Mk2 are the Mk3 2.0 GTI engine (115 bhp as standard), VR6 conversion (174bhp as standard) or 1.8T engine (150, 180, 210 or 225 bhp as standard, depending on which car the engine comes from).
