Iainwil
Hi All, Just completed an upgrade of the MMI to the latest version, and as per the expected i've lost the hidden menu and other bits! I thought my cable would work, fine, but alas i seem unable to connect to the car. The car is a 2005 A6 2.0 diesel, with the MMi High. Is there anyone out there (after Christmas of course) that might be able to assist in getting these functions back? I live in west sussex, just out side horsham and work in Godalming. More than happy to pay for the service! Many Thanks, Iain
Cockney Boy
I take it you have the genuine VCDS lead and software and not a cheap one from ebay? Are you saying that you cant connect to the car via VCDS? And i take it you have followed the instructions below? Connect VAG-COM Select Control Module "07", Click on "Adaptation" Select Adaptation Channel: 08 0-Hidden Menu Disabled 1-Hidden Menu Enabled Enter value "1" Click "Test", followed by "Save" Close & restart MMI Press "Tel" + "MMI Control Knob" + "Upper Right Selection Button" (all together) Press "Car+Setup" together until hidden menu appears I am in Aylesbury in Bucks if you want to use my cable. Iainwil
now here is the problem, it was a genuine lead, but purchased a few years ago to do some work on a VW Bora, it then also worked on the A2 the wife had, but when i connect it up to the A6 the green light on the lead lights, the software can see the car but it never talks to it. I'll pop out tomorrow and try and screen grab the error?

If it's a few years old then it almost certainly won't be CAN capable - and since ALL diagnostics on your A6 uses CAN the lead won't work. You need either a HEX-USB+CAN or a HEX-COM+CAN lead - go for the USB since laptops with COM ports are as rare as hen's teeth!
Iainwil
That's what my thinking was, I know the lead works on the older cars, but I had a feeling the A6 wouldn't be that easy! Thanks for the info, most appreciated. If anyone is about and fancies a few quid to enable the menu, please let me know! Merry Christmas
