Maxyboy
After a bit of late night gaming on ModernWarfare2 i turned the system back on this morning for a quick blast and when i get to the controller icon to click on the disk that should show below, the disc doesnt appear on the screen. I cant even play the Gran turismo demo that i downloaded, it just says corrupted data for that. My wee girl did reach round the back of the system this morning and turned it off at the switch. Anyone any ideas on how to fix it? I'm going cold turkey here!
Biscuits
Oh cr@p, that's not good mate... Have you tried an other game or CD disk ? Really hope it's not the drive that's gone. Could try the FULL RESET procedure? Press and hold the power button till you hear a second BEEP. It does reset your screen resolution, but might reset everything and fingers crossed it'll be back on-line. MW2 is awsome... I can't get enough ! Maxyboy
i tried a factory reset earlier and that hasnt worked, will try the press and hold method too though. The ps3 still does play a dvd though, so hopefullly not the hard drive. Does that help with a diagnosis? Just cant see the modern warfare disc emblum when i have the options screen up:(
DanG
I had issues with the game freezing a while back. Gave the disk a good clean and its been fine after that. sometimes its the simplest of things.

Ye the game had my wee girls finger prints all over it too but a clean never helped. Other games dont work either. Strangely it worked fine watching Shooter on Blu-ray last night.
fizzbitt
Right, It could be the bluerays that its having issues reading. Have you got a blueray film you can try on it? All games that i have seen are based on blue ray discs and as such that would explain why DVD's work but your games dont. Firstly i dont know if its work getting a DVD laser cleaning disc and trying that before more difficult routes to getting it working again. On youtube there is a vid (will find it for you) which shows you how to take apart the PS3. Actually here is another vid that might help. Good luck though! I saved all the memory onto a card for my camera so never even lost anything. I'm sure i tried to link into one of your games a few days ago but you must have been engrosed at the time. fizzbitt
As it happens i had a message on the PS3 when i switched on this morning.. Press X to Rebuild the Database! To say i was crapping myself at the thought of loosing all my saved game data including 6 months of progress in Fallout 3 is an understatement! It did its thing and allowed me to getr back into it and apart from loosing all my messages everything was there! Thank god. So i have now copied my saved games onto a usb. Apparently the rebuild database is like a PC equivelent of a defrag. Apologies for not seeing you the other day. You need to get a mic on as its no fun without it.
