thebrickcounter
Hi I bought a RNS-E sat nav (eBay)and the chap installed it in place of my smphony II stereo. Easy!! However the Bluetooth on my phone doesn't seem to recognise the unit. It worked on symphony II ok and on stereo the word PHONE came up on display and handsfree worked fine. On this system a message comes up stating the phone not connected ! The sat nav and radio part works ok. Also directions in dash area doesn't show step by step directions. The chap who fitted it didn't really understand problem, so I paid for unit and left. He seemed to be guessing where to plug cables in etc.. Is there anyone who could help? Or know of a fitter who I could go to? I am in Hemel Hempstead Edited April 9, 2010 by thebrickcounter Spelling mistske

Your probably better off posting this in the Car electronics section as someone will know how to resolve. Did the chappy fitting it have VAGCOM? thebrickcounter
No, 4 removal keys and an adapter plug and play. He was a chap who imported them only, but said he could fit.

Anyone that says retrofitting an RNS-E to an A4 , especially one with an OE phone kit, is talking out of somewhere that the sun doesn't shine. The RNS-E needs recoding to match the options fitted to the car (TV, MFSW, BT, CD, ...), the instruments need recoding to display the sat nav instructions on the DIS and the BT needs recoding to communicate properly with the RNS-E. thebrickcounter
Hi quattrotdi been stuck in spain with the volcano, so only got back yesterday. The phone now seems to work, but instrument display in dash etc doesnt work, also the memory of last numbers dialed seems not to work. So in short, only partially sorted. Could do with someone with the vag.com thingy assisting? thanks+++
