AudiPartner
What is the best way to rinse/soak my car before I go at it with the sponge (so to speak)? I've seen people using the foam lance on a pressure washer with snow foam and the like, but what if I want to just use the hose? Is there a similar attachment? I've washed enough cars in my time, and I sort of know what I am doing, but since I am just about to get the Q7 detailed again (well, touched up), just a month after having it done, I don't want to put swirls back in to it so soon, and suspect a proper rinse will help. Thanks.
steelwind101
Hi! Imo....snowfoam etc is all bit over rated. It can be helpful on dirty cars, inparticular against certain types of dirt like road grime. In order to create good, thick foam which has a long dwell time you would need a pressure washer and a foam lance. There are one or two hose attachments which create foam, one is a super sprayer (about a tenner) and the other is Foam Master (about £50). TBH, with your wheels and wheel arches you might as well go for the pressure washer and make the most out of the bonuses it brings! Black cars are a pain to wash and maintain esp. if you drive them alot and you do not have a garage to put it in. You probably have to draw up an acceptable swirl level policy in your mind! The Prius is dark blue, it looks good but it has some swirls from the winter and at 17K a year milage and a DD i cant expect it to be any better. One thing you can do is this: Get a couple mitts, one for the lower half and one for the top. Get 5 US gallon buckets, one for wash solution and one for rinsing and buy 4x grit guards, put two in each bucket. That should add in some extra prevetion on picking up dirt from the wash buckets, no doubt on a Q7 you can get through that much wash solution pretty easily! As a result you might be getting nearer loose debris in the bucket (not all of it will get down through one grit guard) and might end up putting back on the car! If your really anal, and you get the Foam Master you can load shampoo in to it. Use the conventional wash method of 2 buckets, but before you put the mitt on the surface of the car, give it a shot soapy foam from the foam master and gently glide the mitt in it. That would offer further lubrication, im not suggesting on black, using the Foam Master to spray your only wash solution directly on to the car. steelwind101
Hello The grit guards may not fit your B and Q buckets as they tend to be one specific size that fits the 3.5 US Gallon Meguiars Buckets and the larger 5 US gallon buckets.
