Well, I think the ad is cool...

... and if they could make/sell these at a sensible price, I might just walk into a Lexus dealer with some money....

Wouldn't it be easier to just put the glass behind the exhaust? :uhoh:

The exhausts are fake*, so I suspect not!

*I think

I think it's an awesome car, regardless of the price, as lets face it, I'm never going to be able to afford one, even if it sold at GTR prices (unlikely I think).

It does funking 9000rpm!!!! it sounds mental, no one else makes anything that sounds even close to that, that is road legal.

I'm amazed that the TSN massive isn't falling over itself in adoration of it, it's the first real leap in what a reliable engine can do for years, the only other car I know of that can do 9krpm is the S2000, and thats only got 4 cylinders!

I know we take the p1ss out of Lexus on TSN, but lets face it, the only bad car they've ever had on sale in the uk is the RX, everything else is actually really very good, it's a good badge for the badge snobs among us too, and easily a match for the supposed kudos of any Audi/BMW/Mercedes badge.

I often wonder why Lexus get slated on this forum....I owned one of the original IS200`s and it was a cracking car....stacked with kit that would have cost £3500 as options on a BMW or Audi(Yep..that much...I did the comparison back in 2000)....and the straight 6 2litre was an absolute peach of an engine...especially when revved to the red-line......and when you compare the newer IS250 with it`s competitors it`s the same story.

The only obvious negative is the fuel consumption and relatively high CO2 emissions......The interiors are typical Japanese...but the plastics were of a decent quality...although I have to say not as good as Audi....but definitely up there with Mercedes.

Audi`s and BMW`s are just so expensive at the moment....so the IS250 is an absolute bargain, especially when you take a look at the standard kit.....and for what is in essence a family saloon the handling is`t too bad either....plus it wont shake the fillings out of your teeth whilst driving over Britain's pot-holed roads.

I'd have to agree. I had the original IS200 it was a lovely car, the manual was great, very fast change and as you say a sweet straight six and neutral handling RWD chassis. You could nail it and not go stupid speeds but it felt great to drive at 8/10s on a nice country road. It was quite funky as well and good value for money and didn't need a million boxes ticking to get some decent kit on it.

I had a look at the current IS and as you say the C02 on the petrol is very poor indeed, my 330i does better.

As my priorities are about to change I might have a look at the CT200h hybrid when its out later in the year, plenty of kit as standard and should be easy on the pocket.+++
