Magro101
Just picked up a copy earlier today, and have to say its pretty impressive so far. Definitely considering buying a wheel to go with this and the new GT thats coming out though, using a controller doesn't seem to do it justice. Race weekends are pretty awesome - You get practice sessions, qualifying, and the race, which you can race through fully, or scale it down (Tyre life and pitstops scale accordingly). Anybody else picked up a copy? What do you think of it?
Dave
I have an unopened copy on my sitting room table.. just trying to find the time to break it open.. I do have the wheel, but no where at present to set it up!
byron13
Is it best on Xbox or PC?? or same really?
Magro101
I guess gameplay will be the same, but performance/visual quality will depend on the PC's spec. Also, your preferred type of input? Do you have a wheel for the PC or would you use the keyboard? I'd much prefer a console controller to a keyboard. Havent tried it without the assists yet (ABS/Traction Control). It's already fairly skitty if you hit a kerb wrong - Cant complain about how it handles or makes you feel when you do though, its pretty heart-stopping when it happens at the worst of times. I'd definitely rate it pretty highly, when your in a pack and fighting for position, it can get pretty intense, athlough outbraking is easy with the assists, so just waiting to give it a bash without. Expecting to come face-to-face with a few tyre-walls though.
Magro101
Managed to get a few more races done, and am currently at Monaco, which has been done insanely well. Driving with a cockpit view really lets you get a sense of the track, but doesnt make it any easier. Still no wheel unfortunately, which I can see as being a huge downside, especially seeing as the smallest of mistakes will see you wrecking your car and not finishing the race (A minor clip of the armco will take off a wheel alongside the suspension). The additional settings (Took a lil effort to find) of tyre degradation and fuel simulation really make it essential to plan out what your going to do, as well as custom setups (Using all 3 practice sessions to tweak your setup is fun, and very rewarding if you can shave time off). Currently standing 2nd on the drivers standings, 86 to 85 behind one of the redbulls! Finished last in one race, and fifth or so in another, but the others were pole-starts to first place finishes.
