Red_Stafford Posted October 15, 2010 Report Share Posted October 15, 2010 Hi all, my oil min warning light popped up yesterday on my A4 2003 1.9TDI 130, I was wondering if you guys could tell me exactly what this means obviously I have to top the oil up but at what level does this warning light come on so I know exactly how much oil to fill up so its at the max again, also what oil should I be using for this car. cruiser647 Posted October 15, 2010 Report Share Posted October 15, 2010 Hi! How many miles since the last service? How many miles has the car done? Is it on fixed servicing or longlife? (not sure if longlife was possible thenm, but still) You need to top up sith proper PD oil. Any other oil will be chewed up and eaten by the engine. Your Audi manual will tell you what oil you need, and how much - it will have a VW standard number on the pack. Opie Oils on here can hellp you - look in the Market Place section. Is this the first time you've had to top up? Has your driving/journey length changed? Forgot to add - do this SOONER rather than later! ie today! benjie Posted October 15, 2010 Report Share Posted October 15, 2010 The oil min light has come on twice for me in my 2 years of ownership. Both times I have topped up with about 1 litre and it's gone off again. It's about once ever 10000miles and I expect 1L oil usage in this time would be classed as normal. Though my older non-pd Golf never used a drop in the 100k I owned it for! My car came with a 1L top-up bottle in an audi bag in the boot so I have used that both times.
