sapphire1616
Hi, I am looking at this to buy. Road tested it today and noticed a continual whine comming from, I think, the gearbox area. Its an automatic with 93k on the clock. Any ideas of known faults with this model. Dealer says it is probably a dry bearing! Any advice welcome please. cruiser647
Nice and still looking good! Is it a FWD model? If so, what gearbox does it have? I, personally, don't like the CVT (Multronic box) much after lots of horror stories. The CVT needs to have it's fluid changed every 40K miles. If it's been missed, it's not good. You might be better off with a manual. The quattro models had the traditional Tiptronic box - less problems. Still need fluid changing, but a stronger item. Oh - never listen to what a dealer says. The sales bod know feck all about the mechanics!
Cupramax
If its multitronic which if its 2wd it will be avoid at all costs...
sapphire1616
Thanks for the replies. Yes, it is the CVT box. It has a stealer history but also shows no sign of having the cam belt done at 80K so a bit nervous of the car. Think I will leave well alone! Thanks again guys. cruiser647
Good move. There will be more about. Avoid multonic jobs. Just go for manual or quattro Tiptronic ones. Good luck!
