Keep people feeling good about what they bought gives them a nice feel good factor and we all love to be told we are right....right?! Mook Posted January 17, 2011 Report Share Posted January 17, 2011 Just put aside for a minute whether you personally like the A1 or not (I think the 1.4 TFSI is a cracking engine). Does a car being awarded the What Car COTY significantly increase it's sales numbers? I can't even remember what won it last year, or the year before. I guess it provides great short-term marketing benefits, esp. for a newly launched car, but will it really make a difference to the numbers? You're making an assumption that people are all like us though and actually try and find out a bit about a car before buying it. I bet there's a fair few people who buy what car (ok, I subscribe to it) who would go out and buy a car almost purely on their recommendation.
