MkV_GTI99
I'm due to look at a 2.7 TDI Le Mans Quattro (Avant) tomorrow. I've verbally agreed the purchase with the current owner and it all seems to check out so far. I'm looking for some advice on what to check for when I'm looking over and test driving the car. I've read a few things on here about jerky gearchange from 1st to 2nd - the owner assures me it is as smooth as silk so I assume that I'll notice it easily? Apparently it can be caused by a blocked air inlet - can someone tell me where this is, so I can check it is clear? It has done about 40,000 miles with full Audi history, serviced just 3,000 miles ago - so I'm not expecting many surprises. I'll do all the usual checks - make sure everything works perfectly inside etc - but there must be loads of things to check which I can't think of. One other question - do those of you with a Le Mans find the ride quality OK, or a little on the hard side of firm? It has the standard S-Line suspension, not the optional Le Mans Sport suspension. Do the 19" alloys make much difference? Any help on what to check for would be much appreciated - many thanks.
DanG
is it auto and what year? I have a 2010 3.0TDI and the ride is fine. These are far more designed for comfort than sport so smooth is better. That said theres not much body roll either for such a heavy car. 19" wheels work well, although fear the replacement costs - had a puncture recently and the replacement tyre inc fitting at home was nearly £300! (255 P-Zero) check the spare, mine is full size, not a space saver. check the wear levels on all of them too... it could be used as a bargaining point as all 4 corners and you are into 4 figures...... look for xenons and DRL's (which I like) and rear LED lights. also the interior lighting pack and puddle lights coming from the wing mirrors are a nice touch. Full Audi history would have shown up any issues previously... any warranty left? Its a great choice and a good step up from the A4 - you'll notice lots of little nice touches. MkV_GTI99
Thanks, it's an 07 plate, has Xenons and lots more. I've checked out the history and it seems fine - I'm really looking for things to check on the car when I'm there (I'll test everything.....) MkV_GTI99
Well, I've just got back from picking up the car. What a truly superb car it is. I've just driven 234 miles in it, averaged 38mpg (constant 75-80mph cruise) and got out feeling fresh, despite a terrible delayed and very long train journey on the way to collect it. I checked for damp under the seat and in the boot (sides) - all bone dry. This is a serious upgrade from my A4. Seems the original owner went mad spec wise, it has adaptive Xenons (the ones that steer), heated front and rear seats, parking sensors all round, storage pack, visibility pack, fancy interior lighting, rear sunblinds, auto dimming wing mirrors as well as the rear view mirror, full size spare alloy etc on top of the standard Le Mans spec! Apparently it has a DAB radio as well but I can't seem to find it in the MMI... I suppose it is time to update my signature. My mint, low mileage A4 will be up for sale tomorrow if anybody is interested. I love my A6 :-)))
cruiser647
Good one Mr! 38mpg isn't bad and thing sounds great for a diesel. You should get a few more mpg from it though. Use quality fuels though - Shell, BP (not necessarily V-Power) and get some Millers Diesel+ additive from Oilman (general market place). It cleans your injectors. richspeight
DAB radio is a great feature. Although all my stations are in memory now, I think you choose DAB from the 'Band' option in 'Radio'. You might have to do a scan to find all the stations. It's not the most obvious or best UX though...
