Headrest DVD to Audi TV tuner connection question

Hi All,

My first post, so please go gentle!

I have bought some Rosen AV7500 DVD headrests for my 06 Q7 and had Craig at TCL SatNavs install a digital TV module a couple of years back. What I am wanting to do is have the picture & sound from the rear DVD's go to the MMI in the front. I would also like the TV to go to the rear DVD's.

A little bit of trolling through the many wonderful forums has brought me here for advice.

I think I need a 21 pin plug to AV plugs to connect the DVD to the 'Red' Aux in on the Tuner box for the MMI, but I can't find the leads anywhere (not even on FleaBay!) so I could do with being pointed in the right direction please.

I also need to know what lead & where I would plug the TV out from the boot mounted TV tuner. I know the Rosen module has an Aux in so I just need to make sure the AUDI tuner has an Aux out (or similar), where it is located and what lead I need to connect that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to fit these until I have all the relevant cables.

Thanks in anticipation.

The Audi TV tuner has 2x AUX in's and a video out. So what you are proposing is feasable, in fact my RSE is connected that way, the TV can be seen on the rear screens and front and the DVD player can be seen front and rear as well. It is easy to fit the sockets for the ins ad outs to the TV tuner, but never seen a Rosen system, by 21 pin, do you mean SCART?

Hi Craig,

Thanks for responding.

The Rosen unit has bog standard av connectors. My concern is with the tv tuner in the boot. I believe this has aux inputs but they are part of a multi plug type socket. I would therefore need a connector cable to connect the phono style plugs to a multiple plug.

The same issue will apply to the tv out at the tuner.

I hope that makes sense?

What I need to know is where I can get hold of one/two of these connectors for the aux in & tv out

Thanks again

Hi Craig,

I'll give you a bell tomorrow about the other project we have been discussing and talk to you about this too, if that's ok? Hopefully you can help me on both counts.

Hi Smithy

Did you manage to get a solution to this?

You are looking to do exaclty what I want to do with my q7. I also wanted to be able to play movies off of a USB stick.

Long story, but no not yet.

Craig is going to help me out with it but the problem lies with the rosen headrests. They are supposed to be an exact match to the verano leather trim but the ones I received were much darker. I am currently working with the retailer and the Rosen rep to look through material samples to match the leather.

I have been told I have a different colour trim, but I take this with a pinch of salt. However, as I didn't buy the car brand new it is possible

It is possible yes. There is a socket in the tv tuner module that has the relevant pins. Unfortunately I do not know what i am looking forms I figured I'd leave it to the experts.

The leather situation is a pain. I believed I had the upgraded verano leather, but the 'exact' match headrests were miles off in colour. I would have assumed I was being fed a line, but the company I have been dealing with have bent over backwards to help me. I guess I may have a none-standard colour. I am still awaiting the next batch of sample leathers to compare to.
