Biscuits
Friend is selling his Impreza after "upgrading" to an E92 M3. No aircon, but otherwise a well kept car (main dealer serviced every 9,000 miles/12mths). Clutch last year and just had a new radiator. Mook
That would be a cracking start for a tracktoy. And £2k is no money for an original one

Mook
Only just over 200bhp though IIRC. You can't get serious power out of that block, but a good place to start ;
Andy_Bangle
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Do it - LOL full decat, uprated panel filter and remap should get you to around 260Bhp/260ftlb, no need for manifold or front mount. should cost around £1200+ :D Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
garcon magnifique
By 2000 I think it was officially 218bhp out of the box. It depends what you mean by serious power and how much engine work you want to do. If it's going to be a track toy it only weighs about 1200kg with all the crap removed. A reliable 280bhp was easily achievable, it was only at about 350bhp that things started melting. The other thing is that although the official factory figure was 218bhp, based on comparative figures with other cars mine was pushing at least 240bhp with nothing other than an air filter and a back box. Some were showing over 230bhp standard.
Tipex
Mine runs just under 250bhp, it has a decat, K&N panel filter and the Prodrive ECU (being a Prodrive WR Sport). You can pick up Prodrive ecu's on eBay for peanuts to give you an instant 240bhp, then add the other bits for not a lot of money and you'll get approx 250bhp like mine. It's not quick enough for a track like Spa, but on any UK circuit it's a shed load of fun, on the roads not much will stick with a well driven Scooby! Mine will (sadly) be up for sale in the next month or so.
