AndyNo_1
Hi All, Having looked around a few forums I'm still a bit stuck. Hopefully someone can help me out... I've got a 2008 1.6 SE and as I'm sure most are aware the stock 16" alloys are grim! I want to change them out to 17" or 18" OEM wheels but I'm concerned that because it doesn't have s-line springs that it will sit like a monster truck? Has anyone fitted 18s onto an unlowered A3? does it ride ok? What size tyres are best for a straight swap? Thanks all!
shao_khan
Welcome to Tyresmoke. 17's shouldnt be a problem as they were an option as the A3 SE and i'm sure 18's would have been as well. Ride will get worse, not by too much but you will notice. I'm guessing you have 205/55/16 tyres currently so youd want 215/45/17 or 225/40/18 tyres, but any reputable alloy wheel retailer would give you this advice anyway. if you want OEM wheels check out for sale ads here, audi-sport.net, tt-forum.co.uk amogst other as there may be wheels with right fitment advertised for your car. PeterS
Happened to park our A3 (Special Edition, but on 17" wheels fitted after purchase so on standard suspension) next to an S-Line A3 on 18" wheels a couple of days ago and remembered this thread, so here's a picture! Not quite Monster Truck, but I often think that our A3 should be lowered slightly to improve the way it looks. It doesn't bother me enough to spend any money though! For comparison here's a shot comparing it to my A4 S-Line as too: Hope that helps! Peter
