NewNiceMrMe
Bad news - you've come across a major flaw on the X Type that has been talked about until the cows come home. You have to make a wiring change. See here about half way down there is a post that tells you what you need to do (and you have to add a switch from a Fiesta into the wiring). patently
Suddenly I have an insight into why you didn't like your one, MrMe…
NewNiceMrMe
Indeed. This type of question started appearing almost immediately that the X Type was launched. They've added an over-ride on US cars that has made it to the most recent of UK cars, but for 5+ years every single X Type owner on the planet has been greeted with the news "You're fecked" if their electric boot release fails. Someone tried taking them to court over it in the US, but I guess that shouldn't come as a surprise (it failed).
steelwind101
Nearly every car i have been in in the USA has had an emergancy trunk release in the trunk....i guess incase you get locked in there!

Oh rubbish! You've just spoilt many a good (and bad) film where someone is tied up and stuck in the boot and can't get out.

MACH1
Thanks Guys, took car to auto electrician, he found a broken cable where the connector block was, if i hadn't known about the location I probably wouldn't have found it so easy, He told me it's a common fault on Jag's when they get this old. thanks again. GraJags
Bad news - you've come across a major flaw on the X Type that has been talked about until the cows come home. You have to make a wiring change. See here about half way down there is a post that tells you what you need to do (and you have to add a switch from a Fiesta into the wiring). Hi MrMe Thanks for your resonse to this thread. I have the same problem with my boot lock. The motor appears to be OK so I suspect a wiring fault. I have been to 'here' and have searched the site at some length but cannot find the page that you are referring to. Could you please give a direct link? Thanks Gra
