dan-dp
Hi, Can anyone advise: I just bought a used 06reg A6, and couldn't find the switch for the boot lid inside the car. I read the manual, and it should be on the driver's door, below the controls for the windows. Mine doesn't have that. It's a HPI clear car (bought the report), car works perfectly fine. Is it normal? Or is there something definitely wrong with the car? I'll be really grateful for your advice! Cheers, D

Cockney Boy
Can you post a picture as I have never seen that !!! As this is not normal on a C6 chassis
ChrissyR
I think it's an American thing and rarely seen on a European car. If you look on eBay USA you will see A6's with it. It's down in the drivers door pocket along with a fuel flap release iirc.

jsuka6
remote boot release on driver's door was an option on the C6 platform and as a previous poster mentioned not one that was often specified

Tipex
I would have though that would be standard, even my old Skoda Superb had it?
Cockney Boy
The switch by the handle will open the boot. Press it twice and that will allow someone to open the boot.
Mr Man
Audi being Audi....it would`t surprise me if the boot release was an optional extra.
Cockney Boy
You could be right. They would have got that idea from BMW lol Audi being Audi....it would`t surprise me if the boot release was an optional extra.

dan-dp
Good idea with the pictures - apologies for not having it done in the first place. I also thought that it's a standard feature in all cars - but this one proves me wrong.
Mr Man
You could be right. They would have got that idea from BMW lol Jaguar I think. Sadly I think Jaguar are following our German cousins.....Having Just had a quick nose at the standard features that will be fitted to the Facelifted XF.......several features that were standard on the pre-facelifted model are now optional extra`s....and to boot, they`v substantially increased the price across the range as well......Interior boot release still standard though.Lol
chasdrury
On the C6 it comes with the automatic boot open/close. Then you get the switch. We have it in the A6 Avant. If you don't have the option you get the button on the remote to pop the boot or the handle on the boot itself.
dan-dp
Thanks for the responses. Now it makes a bit more sense. Still awkward, but I suppose I can live with that. The rest of the car compensates for this slight inconvenience. Cheers
aj84
Bit late but that button is only available if you have auto boot opening option I've got it in mine and unlike the standard A6's whereby the unlock button on the remote just pops it, mine springs up all the way Same thing happens when I lift the button in the door pocket Funnily enough,h while you want it, I want to get rid of it! Few times in traffic I've went to get something in the door storage area and accidentally hit the button. Very annoying having to get out to close it. Only happens when stationary though Same goes for the boot opening - great feature when your hands are full, rubbish feature when the boot button on the key presses in your pocket. Had a call recently to say my boot was wide open when I was in the office
Tipex
Thats odd, VW Passats and Skoda Superbs have always had the switch, it just pops the boot as you say, rather than actually opening it fully.
craigyb
It's not there for auto boot opening as my A6 avant had a normal boot, but I still had the switch. It just opens the boot as Tipex described.
