Iainwil
Hi All, The wifes A6 has gone to the dealer today for a boot problem, basically the boot would shut then bounce back open, as if the catch didn't latch. A chap popped out and said its the catch, booked in today and they are now saying its a battery fault? I find this hard to believe, he said something about the A6 power management and at level one the boots stops, but in this case the boot works fine! Now he want to change the battery for the hansome sum of £260 is this a rip off or are we in the right ball park? Any advice more then welcome, before i part with Christmas present money! Thanks, Iain
Tipex
It wouldn't surprise me to be honest, the bigger Audi's are a nightmare to do any work on, you can't do anything without needing to hook it up to a computer and tell it what you've done. Even changing brake pads, it's ridiculous.
pingpongpo
£260 for a battery!! Have they tested it (correctly I should add and not just guessing) to actually check it needs replacing? I've had my car (albeit only a Golf TDi) from new and only just had to replace the battery from the factory fitted one (over 9 years old!!) This cost me £55 for a genuine VW battery replacment, although this was at mates rates as my friend works at another car dealers and got it for me at cost. I fitted it myself in 5 minutes

Iainwil
Thanks all, just got off the phone with Audi UK about this, they too are puzzeled about the latch and battery connection. A tech chap thinks it might be related to the locking, but he's not sure. Anyhow, the outcome is that they will replace the battery at cost and provide a 15% reduction in labour costs, so overall not a bad outcome.... Still can't get my head round the latch and the battery, but hay... Happy Christmas, and thanks for the feedback.
