JaffaCake
"It should be noted that the emergency services are aware of Supaglass and are able to ‘deal’ with it accordingly, should the need arise." If they can deal with it, why can't thieves?
cerbera
How often is a car thief going to walk about with a truck load of 'equipment' on the offchance that the car they end up going for has Supaglass applied.....!? Of course if someone really wants to get through it then they will, but I don't imagine the average thief hanging around for 2 or 3 minutes with the alarm going off whilst they smash their way through the film.... JaffaCake
So you couldn't just shove a stanley knife through the film then? Whilst the hammer demo is good, hammers aren't known for there abilities to cut things...
TOK
I think even with a knife it would be difficult.. they would have to try and smash it first and then try and cut through the broken glass/superglass film... its not going to stop someone who really wants to get in but I would say it would stop the opportunist scumbags...Im defo going to get it done.. it just gives you that extra bit of reassurance.. one of my cousins was recently involved in a roadrage incident in London where someone was trying to cut in and he wouldnt let them.. this guy finally caught up with my cousin whilst in traffic and put a tyre spanner through the glass and kept repeatedly swinging, one hit him and luckily the rest kept hitting the A Piller so never got any more swings inside the car... the police later caught this guy and found him high on some substance... I looked at the car afterwards and you would be amazed at the damage caused, the glass breaking made enough cuts on him that he had to get stitches on his arm and face and the blow he got inside gave him one hell of a bruise...he is very lucky none of those other swings got in considering the state of the A Piller and door surrounds...so therfore if the superglass even protects you enough to prevent this or even give you a bit of time to get your bearings its well worth it..my cousin said the first thing he realised was when he heard a bang and pieces of window in his face.... sorry for the long story but hope it helps
bazza_g
Christ - sorry to hear about your cousin, glad is wasn't any worse. Any rough idea how much it would cost to Supaglass an R32 ?? bazza

cerbera
TOK - jeeez, sorry to hear about your cousin - hope he's ok now ?! Also - yes, from what I understand you're right about needing to 'crack' the glass first and then you'd still have a hard job cutting through the film, with the glass still 'stuck' to it effectively. At the end of the day someone will get through anything if they really want to, but I guess the supaglass is all about seriously slowing this process down and discouraging the thieving little sh*tes from continuing (as I'm sure would happend in 90% of the time!). Also, bear in mind that in an accident the film will help prevent 'glass injuries' from the nasty shreds that normally fly everywhere.... Jaffa - Busby spoke to Craig at the end of last week (in between his busy life of snowboarding and making fries in his local Maccy D's ) and got quoted a very good price of £295 + VAT if I recall correctly for clear supaglass... PM me if you need any other details or ideally give Craig a shout tmrw morning and be sure to say that you're from TSN. Hope this helps.... JaffaCake
Pricing sounds fairly reasonable considering the alternatives. How many windows does that cover? Pondering it now...

Busby
[ QUOTE ] How many windows does that cover? [/ QUOTE ] All four side windows. The windscreen is already re-inforced and they can't do the back window as the curvature of the glass affects vision when the film is applied. bazza_g
I know its really 'kev' 'ish but I like a good amount of bass !!! - I am mature really !! The Radio Delta system is ok and so are the speakers in the front doors, but the rear speakers are abysmal !! I was going to install a neat amped sub in the boot and put the speaker balance forward to avoid the rears completely !! Is everyone else ok with the VW system ? I mean, when we are not listening to the exhaust !!! bazza
