Audi S8 V10 - Purchase

Gentlemen,

Its time to replace my current steed, and the S8 of the V10 variety is really tickling my fancy.

I currently do about 700 miles a week, so im afraid i do need to ask the dreaded MPG question. My current car is a 4.2 Quattroporte and on a steady 80 leptons, i can get about 25-26 mpg. How does the V10 compare? Im not too bothered about the urban mpg, but need to ask about the Mway mpg?

Any other pitfalls that i should look out for? Any other advice etc?

Regards

Adam

I averaged about 21 mpg, but I drive like a loon.

I would suggest you get a facelift MMI 3G version, only available from 2009-2011 but better that the 2006-2008 non facelift and 2008-2009 facelift MMI 2G versions

B&O and ceramic brakes are also something to look out for.

Facelifted cars are easy to spot with the square fog lamps, later MMI 3G cars will have a joystick on top of the MMI control knob.

Pre facelift 2G car - Buy a used Audi A8 Saloon S8 FSi quattro 4dr Tip Auto car

Thanks or th reply Craig.....

What sort of mpg were you getting on the mway ?

Is there any particular reason why you recommend the facelift over the prefacelift. And the post 09 cars to the facelift cars?

The car I'm looking at is a prefacelift with ceramics, but if there are substantial updates to the later cars then I'm happy to cast the net wider.

Petrol was 85p litre when I had my S8, I didn't really care about MPG, now diesel is 145p a litre and I drive an A2.

Suspension was improved on the facelift cars along with other bits and bobs. The 3G systems in the post 2009 cars was vastly superior to the MMI 2G and I would prefer it myself. I converted my S8 from 2G to 3G, it costs a fortune to do.

its the in car entertainment systems, 2G with DVD nav, radio, cd, AMI, bluetooth etc and the later 3G systems with HDD nav, radio, cd, AMI, SD card slots, high res LED screen, bluetooth etc.

3G is a superior system with far better navigation & voice control.

700 miles a week in a V10....... 20 mpg would be £12,000 a year at £1.45 a litre

The alternative doesnt really appeal to me.

Ive toyed with the idea of running a snooter for Daily duties, but then i just think its a waste not using what sat on the drive!!
