shao_khan Posted December 14, 2012 Report Share Posted December 14, 2012 Best I can do at the moment becaues I can only find an old Skoda document 2.0-ltr./110 kw engines (BLX, BLR, BLY) are toothed belt 1.6-ltr./85 kW engine (BLF) is Chain Every picture I've found of the 2l has a belt in VW / Audi / Skoda, I'm struggling to find stuff for the 1.6 though. Personally I'd have gone for the 2.0, wifey doesn't seem to mind, but I'll push her for the 2.0 anyway. Oh well. And another thing, what bad points should I look out for on these? shao_khan Posted December 14, 2012 Report Share Posted December 14, 2012 VW had a couple of variants of the 1.6 - the version in the A2 was a lean burn and gave far better economy and performance was ok because car was quite light, but in the golf and a3 the 1.6 is not good. The mileage she'll do won't warrant a diesel, and other driving is mainly town so will stick to the petrol. 2.0 version! Will start looking, as she moves office at the end of Jan.
