Andrew
Off to NYC a week Thursday; never been before and am loaded down with places to visit from everyone that has been. So, Intrepid etc is on my radar in exchange for a play on Broadway for the missus. However, I really want epic ribs while I'm there - any good places to recommend? Actually, any amazing food places full stop would be welcomed. I've already booked a place called Marea which came highly recommended from one of our (her) loaded mates who goes to NY all the time. Tipex
I'd be interested in hearing about the essential things to do/eat as well, it's the mrs 30th this year, so will probably take her to New York for a long weekend, won't be until December though as I reckon she'd like it all christmassy despite her birthday being in June. Andrew
Hi mate - not really - only back for a quick evening next week before heading back up north. I'll meet you when I get back for the holiday album though!
Andrew
New York; it is awfully noisy. What is with the flipping horns?! Got an upgrade from BA out here which was nice, now off out to find ribs!!
CarMad
Sounds fun let us know how you get on. I fancy doing New York for a long weekend if the kids will allow us to get away soon, ish anyway.
Andrew
Well, the hotel was nice (Hotel Elysee) and really well placed. As for the city I'm afraid I just didn't really get it. It is a nice enough place and the food is good (went to a place called Marea which was great) but as a city it is noisy, lacking in greenery and generally just another city. I'm glad I've been (sat at the airport now waiting for flights home) but I'd not be in any hurry to come back. New York - done! ETA - went to the Ferrari store and had a mooch around the F12. Saleswoman was hell-bent on selling me some clothing ... er, I really don't think so!
Hopsta
Looking at 4 nights in the Big Apple in Oct, is that to much? Friend has recommended the Grand Hyatt on 42nd Street, any other hotels the TSN massive can throw into the mix that's relatively close to tourist bits? Empire State, Rockefeller, Statue of Liberty, Central Park and chopper ride to Niagra are on the possible to do list. Any other recommendations? Andrew
Our hotel (above) was nice and really well located. From my experience in April I'd say 4 nights is about right - I guess it depends how much of a culture vulture you are or how much you like shopping. Ground zero was interesting - I'd recommend a visit there.
