Andy_Bangle
On Tuesday Nürburgring officially announced the beginning of the 'investor process', it's all become frighteningly real. You can apply to buy the Nürburgring right now with information you will find here. It's a process that starts right now, but according to the documents the end isn't in sight until Spring 2014. What's also made clear is that this process will NOT affect any bookings or events this season. Potential parties have until June 14th to register an official interest in the procedings through Frankfurt based firm KPMG. Official offers are scheduled to be considered during Autumn this year and final negotiations due to take place this winter. Each and every part of the Nürburgring is for sale, though interested parties can make offers on pieces they want or the whole thing. Speculation says the expected sale could be around €120 million. That’s for everything. The GP track, the Nordschleife and the white elephant NüroDisney complex. It’s quite possible that a large car manufacturer could buy the Ring, with Chris Harris suggesting Volkswagen could be a good fit. Hyundai has also been mooted. Which would at least give some more certainty to their Nürburgring test centre investment. On the one hand Volkswagen, or any car maker, owning the Nürburgring could be a very good thing. We just wonder how such things as open public days would be viewed in the corporate world. It’s all fun and games until someone sticks it in the armco, or worse. Would any car maker really want the negative publicity and blood on their hands associated with a touristenfahrten fatality?
CarMad
I predict it will be bought out by a consortium of car makers as they use the facility so much and have so much invested but lets see hey.
patently
We should put in an official TSN bid of a lifetime subscription to Motoren****enspunkischenmagazin plus two packs of cheesey puffs.
m4ttm4son
Duisberg is doing a German spinoff magazine? That's definitely going in 'Special interest' isn't it?
theduisbergkid
We should put in an official TSN bid of a lifetime subscription to Motoren****enspunkischenmagazin plus two packs of cheesey puffs. I reckon a year's profit from Motor***** Magazine should provide sufficient funds to make a cheeky bid for the 'ring. :D *Note to self: Repeatedly punch Garcon in the face for ruining the name of MotorPunk forever.

Twinspark
I believe there's a clause in the sale contract which ensures the track will still open for Tourist Fahrting.

garcon magnifique
That sounds like a circuitous route back into public ownership... if it actually became listed among Bernie's personal assets (which would be unlikely).
CarMad
Hopefully somebody will take ownership, it would be terrible if it was left to go into a jungle and never used again.
m4ttm4son
Surely someone like JayKay would come in and at least buy it for themselves. Not the ideal, but wouldn't be lost that way.
CarMad
I'd have thought that it would cost plenty more than JKs pockets could afford, do we know what the valuations have been for it and what is happening with the debt?
patently
How many packs of cheesy puffs could we get together for a bid? I can probably manage two packs at a push, if that helps?
Tipex
I've got a multipack of genuine Wotsits i'd happily contribute, so long as we ban bikes from the track.
garcon magnifique
I've got most of a pack of Nik Naks if that helps. Only two Nice n Spicy left tho.
NewNiceMrMe
We always have bags of Walkers Cheese & Onion crisps left out of their multi-packs. Nobody likes them (which begs the question why do we buy multi-packs, but that's another thing altogether). I am happy to donate all 3 from the latest multi-pack. theduisbergkid
What's the asking price? How much debt? Is the new owner liable for the debt? I can't see this sale going smoothly...
Andy_Bangle
There isn't an asking price per se, it's a bankruptcy sale, you submit your tender to KPMG and hope for the best. ADAC are in the running to, which isn't a bad thing as they already host/sponsor a number of German race series.
