CarMad
Yes I know it sounds stupid, but I've just got off the phone to my Dad and a friend of his has just had lots of problems with his Merc. He wasn't sure of the model but it was a brand new AMG of some sort (SL or CL i'd expect )and some warning lights kept coming on. The dealer couldn't diagnose the problem so it went to Mercedes UK and they couldn't sort it either. So it then got sent back to Germany and they have diagnosed it with some sort of virus in the engine management. As a result they are building him a completely new car that he is now waiting for. Surely if anything like that happened and they could just change the management unit, plus surely something got corrupt and didn't get a virus that would be weird on a car. Either way he is getting a new motor out of it because of the issues and its the easiest way to fix the issue for certain apparently.
Mac
My guess is they're blaming a bad code burn on a virus?
CarMad
Yeah I'd agree it does appear to be a weird explanation just but that's what he was given anyway. Not good he is having to wait for another car to get it sorted though.
