They missed the dodgy suit sellers who claim they've just been to a show in the region and want to get rid of their suits they didn't sell - because otherwise they'll pay extra baggage costs on their return.

They tried that on me in Doha and it took a very firm "NO" followed by an even firmer and blunter message to get them to realise I wasn't going to be had.

The M-Way service station scam ... "I've got some watches/leather jackets/etc left over from a trade show"

A mate of mine got done over at Peas Pottage services, a bloke in a van with a 'courier' sticker on the side iffered him a big Plasma TV for £100.

He said it was a delivery but that they'd loaded two on by mistake, so he was trying to get some cash for it.

Showed him one of the TV's, which obviously was perfect, so he gave him the money, they obviously loaded the other box in to his car, which when he got home was broken, had no screen in it, and was weighed down with a brick.

God knows why he fell for it, classic bait and switch.

Classic!  Such a classic - The Real Hustle shows these things.  :roflmao:

After a while, a punter actually wants to buy that one that they have working - you have to insist on that one.

How often do you remind him of it?

He doesn't ever join in conversations about TV shows any more, he almost joined in when we were talking about Breaking Bad a few weeks ago, and that was enough for someone to ask him if looked good on his bargain TV.

Bearing in mind this was something like 8 years ago now.
