northan
Hi Guys, I recognise a few of you in here, being a Focus Rs owner I can see this is were you have ended up after selling the FRS.. Well looks like I am joining you.. LOL Job change, meaning more motorway miles means after 16 months of the FRS, its time to go.... So Decided on the R32... I took out an R32 on saturday, mainly on the motorway, but seems like a very nice drive. It was a 12 month old Black 3 door with full vinyl(!) and sat nav. 12K on the clock for £22995 As I didnt fancy every man and his dog looking round the RS if I sold it private, I asked what the dealer would give in part ex. They didnt really want to touch it, so contacted the local main ford dealer who offered them just over £17K which was taking the piff a little. They did say that is why they offered to let me have the car for £22995 not the £24995 it should have been. I told them there was still £1K to much in the figures and left it with them... Anyhow, like the FRS there was plenty of little things to look out for when buying, is there any potential problems I should be aware of? Also, can you retro fit cruise control if it was not fitted factory time. I see AMD offer this for £275, it this for the R32? Many Thanks guys, and Hi to those who know me from the FRS forums etc... Look forward to playing a part in this great forum.... CheeRS Brett

[/ QUOTE ] Yes it is. The guys at AMD are really helpful and if you give them a bell I am sure they will answer any questions you might have. [ QUOTE ] any potential problems I should be aware of? [/ QUOTE ] I am on my second R32 and have had niggles but nothing too serious. Rattling / Squeeky seats seem to plague some cars but I haven't had this. I am sure that loads of people will give you a list of what to look out for! Welcome to TSN too (Have also PM'd you)
JaffaCake
I think most of your questions will be covered by a quick browse of these forums. There aren't any real issues. Some people have an issue with warning lights randomly displaying on the dash, especially at low revs in high gear. Other cars, like mine, don't seem to suffer from this. It's no real problem, just annoying, and fixed with an ECU update I believe. I'm thinking I may have this ECU version already as I've never seen the issue. Cruise control can be done by AMD indeed. It literally just needs the buttons fitting and then to be enabled in the car using VAG-COM, software that hacks the internal settings. This may, but shouldn't, invalidate any warranty you have however. Try ringing around a few Ford dealers yourself, you may find somebody that wants it. As far as I'm concerned, there's not much else to look out for except the lack of bass on the hi-fi at times.
Moschops
Hi Brett, I'm also a former RS owner, sold my 96 Small Turbo Escort Cossie to buy my R32 and another lad on here, Sideways also sold his FRS to buy his R32. You wont regret it. One guy from the RS Owners bulletien board wanted to PX his FRS against my Cossie, I also enquired about shifting it on as I didn't want the FRS, but If the Cossie went and I shift the FRS then I would have done it, but I was only offered 17K for the Focus. 5 were for sale on the RS BB without one reply. I asked lots of questions about the R32 and they were all answered by the knowledgable folk who grace these pages. I've also met several on a trip down to AMD, again all very helpful and a pleasant bunch. RE The Cruise Control, again Sideways had this retro fitted to his silver R32 by AMD an was pleased with the results. I've not had any niggles with my car as of yet The car is superb, I'm really chuffed with it and the exhaust note will bring a smile each time you drive it. The build quality IMO is better than the FRS, the doors close with a nice clunk. At the end of the day its down to personal preference, my mate keeps telling me I should have bought the FRS but it didn't press the right buttons (gopping interior colour...sorry) whereas the R32 did. Plus no 4wd Good luck.

cerbera
Welcome to the forum mate If you choose to go down the R32 route I'm sure you won't be disappointed, as (nearly) all here can testify....! Fucawi has had the Cruise Control retro fitted by AMD and it looks good and he's very pleased with how well it works - certainly a useful licence saver when on deserterd motorways....... IIRC it's actually an Audi stalk that they use, as it was different to the standard one on my car - however still looks good and does what it says on the package.....!
