Snail
From what i've heard, it just the same as a normal car.....just dont rev it too hard till its warm. Please note a VW/Audi TDi engine isn't properly run in till its got about 100k miles on it.
shao_khan
SO you are saying I aint never going to run it in then?
Snail
Yep! I did hear that the same could be said of the old golf GTi engines, they never reached their full potential till about 100k.
fatcat
Keep the revs low, soot chuckers tend to take a bit longer to warm up as well. Remember Chris at something like 2000rpm in 5th you are into three figures with extreme ease.... Check your oil levels..... Then get it re-mapped. FULL STOP. shao_khan
Cheeky oiks. DO they use a lot of oil? My new car:
fatcat
In my experience, they do use a little oil, but that may have been more to do with the original re-map than anything else. Drive and enjoy
danksy
I have done 6000 miles in mine, and have already used the complimentary oil (1L I think). It has needed topping up every 2000 miles without fail. On the plus side as time has gone on, the car is getting more economical, and now I am averaging 35mpg instead of 32mpg over the first 2500 miles. cheechy
Personally when I got my Bora smoker I kept it real easy for the first 1k as the manual states. Its a small price to pay I would have thought.
shao_khan
Well been driving it careful, done just over 400 miles and still not had to fill up yet it says average of 43mpg, so not too bad i guess.

Techie
12,500 miles Average 45 mpg Getting better day by day (mind you I do keep playing with it). Just watch the oil consumption for the first 10k, some PD's use more than others.
