Would appreciate some suggestions towards buying one, what to look out for etc and how to pay. Botang Posted April 11, 2004 Report Share Posted April 11, 2004 Very much depends on your budget mate, all of the S8's carry a similar spec but obviously your budget affects the age/mileage situation. There was a revised model in 1999/2000 which just had a few design refinements and an extra 20hp, even so the 1998 model at 340hp is still a very fine car. Welcome aboard the good ship tyresmoke Good choice of moata Wot area/country are you in with reagrds us keeping our ears open? Have a flip through some of the older pages in the A8/S8 section. There have been about similar posts as yours in the last 6wks or so, so you should find detailed answers there. Seems like the only things that often differ on the spec sheets of these S8's are things like the solar roof panel and the sun blind set (electric rear window and manual rear door blinds). The later S8's (360bhp that Matthew was talking about) I think may also come with a better Sat/Nav. Sven_S8 will give you the details when he checks in, I'm sure. Botang Posted April 11, 2004 Report Share Posted April 11, 2004 As far as sat nav goes there is sat nav which gives you guidence via the dash pod or sat nav + which has a screen in centre console. Other thigns that may be present are heated front and rear instead of just front. Most features were fitted to the S8 as standard so not too many options to look out for. Probably looking to spend about 14K so would be a pre facelift unless that bargain of '99 facelift model came about. Got to sell my old car as well so got a bit of work to do prior to buying. Would welcome any notification of cars for sale, not worried about travelling for a car that's worth it. Look forward to being an avid participant in the future. Botang Posted April 11, 2004 Report Share Posted April 11, 2004 For that sort of money it is going to be fairly high mileage unless you go for a 4.2 Sport with less miles, is always an option. Judlad Posted April 12, 2004 Author Report Share Posted April 12, 2004 Will keep my eyes peeled, I have 3.0 Vectra GSI that i have to sell. Need to put in a little work to get her back to pristine. If you know anybody on the look out would appreciate passing on some details. It's a gorgeous car, but I guess taking out the MD's S8 put the nails in the coffin.
