a900ss
Hi, I have a 2004 A4 fitted with a Nokia Bluetooth CAr Kit (NOT a headset, a fully installed car-kit) The problem I am having is that when I disconnect my phone from the car, occasionally the kit pairs with another device. Problem is, I don't know what it is because I am not carrying any other bluetooth equipment. Once it has connected with this 'phantom' kit, the only way to break the connection is to disconnect the car battery. Has anybody else had this problem? Does anybody have a Nokia Bluetooth car kit that works fine? Any body know what the car-kit could be connecting to? Thanks for your help.
mattcony
1st of all try removing ALL paired devices set up on your handset, then reset it up starting fresh. I take it the phone locks to the kit as soon as you turn the key in the car ? Cheers Matt
TP27
Yup, I agree with Matt. I have the same system in my car and the handbook issued at installation should have a code to set the system to your phone? Try to reset factory settings on the Bluetooth connection, install the code again from scratch and hopefully this will remove the gremlin. TP. a900ss
Already reset the system (twice). Phone will lock on but not automatically. When I enter the car, I have to push the Nokia button on dash to get it to search. Likewise, if the kit is paired with the phantom device, I cannot get any lock because the system thinks all is ok. TP27
Mmmm. I get this sometimes also. Quite often, if I switch on the Xenon lights (not the half beam) the Nokia Bluetooth connection will cut off and I have to press the 'button' to get it to re-engage. My installer had problems at the outset as I have the VW Sat-Nav and stealer was clueless. Do you have a tech you can ask to look at your system...someone maybe a retailer like the Carphone Warehouse may employ to do customer fits?? TP. S4Mate
Can you tell me which kit you are using as I am also thinking of putting in a Bluetooth kit on an A4 with Sat nav. Is it the 610? What phone are you using Thanks.

a900ss
My system :- Handset : Nokia 6820...Car Kit : Nokia CK-1W Wireless Car Kit. It is good - when it isn't locked on to this phantom piece of kit!!!
TP27
I have to say my system is ideal. I had the Nokia handsfree with cradle in the old car but I'm out on the road less now so the Bluetooth is all I require. Main issue was I wished VW had wired the car in the factory (I did ask when I ordered) to save having all the kit fitted after delivery!!TP. Beware though it only works with the 6230 and one other Nokia phone but I can't remember what the second one is. They are the only two with the correct Bluetooth set up for the 610. It won't work (at the moment) with any other manufacturer's phones.

Full list is 6230, 6810 and 6820 - but I don't think the 6810 (adds FM radio to the 6820 facilities) is available yet.
