loddrik
I could harp on about how the motoring press IS objective and qualified in what they write and think and that it is the owners (obviously) who are slightly prejudiced, but let's be honest, it's been done to death. Braytak
The lower panel around the tail pipes is very nice, much better than the standard Audi one IMO. I agree that the rest is M3 Kit car like
Braytak
Today at Cardiff Audi I saw a sight that made me wince with embarrassment. An A4 Cab 2.4 which had been debadged... So what you say.... This one had it's original badging replaced with S4 BADGES FRONT AND REAR AS WELL AS 4.2.QUATTRO ON THE REAR. It was completed by the fitting of rather poor copies of the RS4 Type alloy wheels.... Why oh Why would anyone do this. It's far worse than anything that Caratere have done to brutalise this beautiful car. Ididn't know whether to laugh or cry. I did get a glimpse of the owner, he appeared to be let's just say not in the flushes of Youth. Intriguing or just Sad!

[/ QUOTE ] No, you miss my point, I'm sure the motoring press is right and BMW's are better round corners. But the fact is that for me this equates to about 1% of the driving experience as I generally drive round corners at speeds where understeer or oversteer or neutral handling are irrelevent as I'm well within the cars limits. [/ QUOTE ] Yes I agree , Audi is about much more than just on the limit handling , which isn't really relevant to most people most of the time. I bought an S3 in the knowledge that its handling in extremis is not as good as an Impreza/Evo and it is only 90% as fast , but its appearance , interior and quality as well as resale value is at least 200% better ie a better package overall. The car magazines focus on the on the limit handling which might be useful if the main use for your car was racing on a track.
rmmacauley
On the bodykit subject , the kit at the top of the post is nice enough , but I reckon it is very hard to improve on the manufacturers kit , especially with an Audi. This is especially true as the car gets older eg compare the e30 BMW 3 series from approx 1989-91 - those fitted with the proper M technic BMW bodykit still look well , but some of the aftermarket ones still around look very dodgy indeed.
